I am a Certified Holistic Nutritionist that is slightly obsessed with learning all I can about health and wellness. I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and Public Relations with a minor in Journalism. I attended Hawthorn University through their Master of Science for Holistic Nutrition program until the school unfortunately closed during the pandemic (with a mere six classes away from completing my Master’s). I’m a wife and mama (my favorite job) with two beautiful kiddos. I love Jesus, a good cup of matcha tea and really dark chocolate (cheers to polyphenols)!
My own history with disordered eating (and the grace of God) led me to my passion for nutrition and wellness. If you would have told me ten years ago that I would be open about my struggles with body image and eating, I wouldn’t have believed you. That struggle was something that I kept extremely private. However, God had another plan.
In my early thirties, I enrolled in a Master of Science for Holistic Nutrition program (mostly for vain reasons) and something amazing happened. God slowly unpacked my unhealthy relationship with food and started to heal me. I began seeing real food as vital nutrition and nurturing for my body. I began to see that I wasn’t really eating food at all, just chemical-laden items labeled as food. I realized that all the foods I was afraid of were actually what my body needed; good fats, good carbs, actual real food! I quickly learned that paying attention to just calories was such a disservice to my body. I discovered that there was so much freedom in focusing on nurturing my body instead of depriving it. It was such an amazing change in my mindset and now, part of my passion is to help you think differently about your relationship with food as well.
Growing older is inevitable. Growing older while thriving and enjoying the freedom health brings is a choice we get to make each day through nutrition and lifestyle choices. Cheers to your health!
